We use the tool, HelpThisBook, for advance reader comments, because it’s easy-to-use, intuitive, and we’ve even been told it’s fun.
There are just 4 steps to get started. Here’s what you’ll do:
#1. Click the link above to navigate to the HelpThisBook website.
#2. Select whether you want to highlight text using your computer mouse, or touch (if you’re on a touchscreen).
#3. Before you start highlighting text to give us your feedback, click the “sign in” button on the top of the page.
Then, enter your email address, grab the “magic code” from your inbox, and enter the name you’d like your feedback to show up under.
For your name, please use the *phone number you used when you signed up so we can more easily connect feedback to the readers it came from.
*Nobody else can see your username, and we’ll keep it confidential.
IMPORTANT: if you leave comments without signing in, you’ll show up as an anonymous user. Which means if you click out and come back to the manuscript to finish later, it’ll count you as a separate person and you won’t be able to see your previous comments. It will also skew the reader counts our publisher asked for, so please don’t skip this step.
And #4. (The best part) Read the manuscript. Highlight any words or sections that you love, or find confusing, or think are particularly useful, or that you have a specific thought about.
And that’s it!
I think you’ll love the book. But if you get 3, or 4, or 6 (or however many) chapters in and completely lose interest, that’s valuable feedback too!
Regardless of how far you get in the manuscript, don’t forget to register for whichever of the free Thank-You-Alpha-Reader workshops makes the most sense for you. Those are our way of saying “thank you for reading the advance manuscript and giving us the benefit of your thoughts & opinions about it so we can make it the best book it can be.”
Click the link at the bottom of this page to choose your free gift, if you haven’t already.
Happy Reading!
